Queering the Wild Sky.
From the seventh heaven to the dead stars and back - exhibition tour, screening and bar with Josch Hoenes and Nanna Lüth at the Edith Russ House for Media Art, Katharinenstr. 23, 26121 Oldenburg,
Free admission.
The group exhibition "Wild Sky," on view at the Edith Russ House for Media Art from May 27 - August 14, 2011, presents twelve artistic positions that deal with the depiction of the sun, the moon, and other celestial bodies. They reflect the desire to fathom the sky, to measure it and to record it with technical means.
During the tour of the exhibition "Wild Sky" on July 6, Hoenes and Lüth will discuss and develop queer readings of the artistic works. In the search for alternative perceptions, the following questions can be asked, for example: What notions of gender or sexuality become visible in the artistic representations? Where are social norms invoked and confirmed? Or are these representations, are these skies not so heterosexual after all?
After the tour, queer skies can be projected and enjoyed in the bar. Feel free to bring your own finds, images and associations (digital and analog).
