Laurie Simmons: The Music of Regret Filmpräsentation

For 30 years, American artist Laurie Simmons has photographed dolls, puppets, and antropomorphized objects, some of which she arranges in interiors or drapes in front of carefully lit backdrops. Her Walking Objects series (1989-1991), for example, features various objects, such as a firearm, a birthday cake, a house, or a book, moving on small puppet legs.
In her film The Music of Regret (2006), the protagonists of the photographs reappear and are brought to life for the first time. The actress Meryl Streep, who acts as the artist's alter ego, and an ensemble made up of ventriloquist's dummies, humorously regret mistakes or missed opportunities in their lives in this musical in three acts. Laurie Simmons was born in 1949 in Long Island, New York, she lives and works in New York.
