Free-Media - creative contact with security cameras

Free-media takes accessible media apart and repurposes it without unnecessary restrictions and control - "free as in freedom of speech". Graham Harwood and Joao Wilbert introduce the basics of video sniffin ("video snooping") and data hijacking ("data hijacking"). Later in the workshop, participants will try out creative ways of using surveillance cameras. At the finissage of the exhibition RECORDERS by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, the results of the workshop "Free-Media" were presented in the form of a short film with images of video surveillance cameras in Oldenburg and the surrounding area. The interventions in these surveillance systems, which were made during the last two months, were presented and discussed.
