The Art Critics Orchestra (ACO) consists of five musicians, all of whom are active in the art business and who return the favor musically: "Punk for adults" (art Kunstmagazin). For years, ACO's live repertoire has consisted of their own compositions and a collection of artist songs created especially for ACO - some as songs, some as ideas, many just as concepts.
Founded in Berlin in 2004, the band around the two founding members Andreas Schlaegel and Raimar Stange quickly gained the reputation of the "ultimate art rock band of the new millennium: conceptual, punky, sensitive" (unofficial ACO fan-site) in changing formations. Already in 2005 the first release, a 12 inch picture vinyl, designed by John Bock and Kristine Roepstorff, appeared, which was hotly traded even in the editorial staff of Frieze Magazine.
In 2008, ACO concentrated on recording their third album of Deutschrock songs, in addition to various live performances (in Vienna, Hamburg, Berlin and Oldenburg, among others). "Finally back in the studio!" enthuses base player Raimar Stange. The third CD with exclusively own compositions will be released in autumn 2008. But single pieces can already be heard live, on May 02 in Oldenburg.
